About This Film
Proof of Work is both a documentary and a manifesto. Following real filmmakers who have embraced the GITMOVIE model, it captures the raw reality of pioneering a new way to make movies — the technical hurdles, the skepticism from traditional industry players, and the electric moments when everything clicks.
The title is a double meaning: it refers both to the blockchain consensus mechanism and to the undeniable evidence that decentralized filmmaking works. These aren't theoretical possibilities — they're films being made right now, by real people, with real communities supporting them.
Director Marcus Webb has embedded himself with these filmmakers for over two years, capturing intimate moments of creation, crisis, and triumph. The result is an unflinching look at what it takes to build something new.
